Thrigby Wildlife Gardens

Located right on our doorstep is Thrigby Wildlife Park – just over a mile down the road from Millview Meadow! At home in the landscaped grounds of Thrigby Hall is a special collection of rare animals from Asia. You will find endangered tigers, huge crocodiles, noisy gibbons (you can hear them from the meadow sometimes!) and many more exciting animals. The wildlife park is open all year round and you can easily spend a day here exploring – it’s brilliant fun for all the family!

Hirsty’s Family Fun Park

If you fancy getting lost in a “Mega Maze” then head to Hirsty’s Family Fun Park! Created out of real maize, find the clues to the quiz and then find your way out. Hours of fun for all the family! Afterwards, spend time enjoying all the Funpark play equipment including zip wire, hay bale mountain, bouncy castles and lots more. Hirsty’s also run a Halloween Hoot, where you can pick and carve your own pumpkin, and a Spring Baa-Nanza during April where you can take a tractor and trailer ride to see all the new baby lambs!

Fishing

If you enjoy a spot of fishing then staying at Millview Meadow is the right place for you! Located just a short walk down to the river is a local fishing lake and grounds, available for private hire. Ideal for fishing, picnics, wildlife watching or just a peaceful day out. Book the whole area from just £20 per day – bookings only, no day ticket fishing. Clean indoor toilet facilities are also provided.

Visit the Seals

Norfolk is famous for its seal colonies, and you can spot them all year round – they’re a very special sight to see! In the Winter months, you can visit the seals and their pups. The best beaches to visit for this are Winterton, Horsey and Waxham. Take a boat trip from Great Yarmouth during the summer months (May-September, weather permitting) to see them basking in the sun on Scroby Sands! BeWILDerwood

A huge, award winning forest of family fun and outdoor adventure. The attraction is situated in a woodland area and features treehouse, rope bridges, slides, zip wires, a maze and two special areas for children under five! The owner, Tom Blofield, has based the park on his books “A Boggle at BeWILDerwood” and “The Bewilderbats”, bringing his creativity alive. Wroxham Barns

Take a half an hour drive from Millview Meadow to Wroxham Barns, Norfolk’s award-winning visitor attraction set in the beautiful countryside close to the Norfolk Broads. With lots to see and do, whether you want a relaxing day with friends, a fun time with the family or a chance to indulge in some retail therapy, you’ll find it at Wroxham Barns. Younger children will enjoy visiting the Junior Farm where you can bottle-feed the animals. There is also an indoor soft-play area, and a traditional funfair (seasonal opening) to keep the younger visitors entertained.

Nature Reserves

If you fancy a more relaxing day out then head to one of our local Nature Reserves. The largest of the Broads, Hickling Broad is a year-round haven for wildlife – it’s easy to spend a day walking around its trails or, in summer, take in the Broad’s hidden corners on one of the NWT’s Boat Trails. Alternatively, Strumpshaw Fen is a 20 minute drive from Millview Meadow situated on the River Yare. The reserve itself has a full range of broadland habitats and wildlife.
